We are in the process of totally refurbishing 2 more rooms at Poas Lodge. This will mean all our rooms have been totally refurbished in the last year.

We have completely redone one room and about to begin the second. The completed room looks and feels amazing. Previously this was our dorm room, so it took a bit of work to get it up to standard, but we have repainted, refurnished and redecorated it completely.

We have also added an LCD TV with satellite, new plush carpet and an eco-friendly convection heater to add to the comfort of the room.

We have done away with the bunk beds we used previously and purchased fold away beds with thick mattresses for families who need extra sleeping space. This also means, couples get to enjoy more floor space when there are just 2 people and no need for extra beds.

Poas Lodge is situated just 3 miles from the entrance to Poas Volcano National Park. This means after spending the night with us at Poas Lodge, you are just minutes away from the amazing crater of Poas Volcano. It is the only way to get  good nights sleep and be the first at the crater at Poas Volcano.

Poas Lodge recently purchased a larger vehicle to offer transport to and from Poas Lodge at Poas Volcano in Costa Rica.

We are very happy to be able to offer safe and reliable transport to and from the lodge at very reasonable rates.

If you require transport to Poas Volcano or anywhere in the area, we can handle groups of up to 5 people with luggage.

We are also able to do longer transfers to other destinations in Costa Rica.

Fiery-throated Hummingbird

The Fiery-throated Hummingbird (Panterpe insignis) is a medium-sized hummingbird which breeds only in the mountains of Costa Rica. It is the only member of the genus Panterpe.
