For those of you wondering about travelling in Costa Rica during the rainy season, this year Costa Rica is experiencing a very dry rainy season.

In July 2012 Costa Rica experienced only 10% of the expected rainfall. This attributed to the La Nina affect.

Make no mistake, it still rains a fair amount some days but on average the weather has been just great lately! At Poas Lodge and on the slopes of Poas Volcano we have been having very clear mornings with the usual cloud cover building through the late morning and afternoon, howver it has not been resulting in as much rain as we are used to up on the slopes of Poas.

So if you are planning a rainy season trip to Costa Rica this year in September or October, you may be happy to know that you can expect it to be dryer than normal.
